new england trip part 1 - lobsters

i mentioned in the philly blog below that anselm & i took a vacation to the east coast a few weeks ago. we rented a car with susie and henry and took a road trip up through new england. we started out in NY and drove through connecticut to portland, maine where we stayed for 2 days. on the way to maine, we made a detour and stopped for a few hours at the Mohegan Sun Casino which proved to be a mistake since we ended up losing enough $ to buy a few lobster dinners...

so we got to maine in time for dinner and we were on a hunt for the best lobster in town! we went to a restaurant on the pier called the portland lobster company, which was delicious, but we were disappointed with the portions for the price we paid. poor susie's 1 lb lobster turned out to be the size of a giant shrimp!


so the next day, we went to the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth where we had a much better experience, 1.25 lb lobster per person for lunch and for dessert - lobster rolls! :P

besides pigging out on lobster in maine, we took a day trip to camden where we visited camden hills state park and the doubling point lighthouse...
