little update about attie

attie is 16 months old today! she is a happy, healthy little girl who loves to smile and enjoys listening to music. she now weighs about 21 pounds, and is about 2 and 1/2 feet tall. she is a good eater, loves to eat fruit (all types), she also likes to eat "wice" (rice),"cheero" (cherrios), and "nana" (bananas).

i think the biggest change lately is that she is learning to say a lot more words now, and she is also still learning and using a lot of her baby sign language. her communication is improving and she is not shy about voicing her opinions. when she sees something she wants, she'll point to it, and make a loud sound (like ah!) or if someone is close by, she will say "oyo-oyo-oyo-oyo" which seems to mean "give me"... when she's listening to music and there is a song that she doesn't like she will firmly say 'No-no' and expect you to change the station or skip to another song. when she sees people leaving, she'll say "bye-bye" and keep saying it even when they're long gone. she can't really pronounce a lot of things clearly, especially anything with an "s" sound but she'll try anyway and then use her sign language to clarify. for example, she says "MU-KE" and i can't tell whether she is trying to say "music" or "milk" so i'll ask her to make the sign. she'll open & close her fists or she'll wave her arm in the air, and i'll know what she wants. some of my favorite things that she says are: tur-tle, ow-oh (owl), nigh-nigh (when she wants to go to sleep), yee-yee (auntie in chinese), el-mo, and ah-ma (grandma in chinese). oh, and of course ma-ma. that's my all time favorite :)

she really likes to listen to music and sometimes she'll dance too. it started with just head bopping many months ago, then knees bouncing a few months later, then she started raising her arms and waving them back and forth. most recently, she started spinning her whole body around and moves in a circle when i ask her to dance. it's too cute...

i guess what started out as a little update became a really long one! happy 16 months attie!
