last week i went on a road trip with attie, my mom and my sister gina. we drove up the california coast to see the hearst castle. on the first day of our trip, we headed to san luis obispo and we walked around and ate dinner at their weekly farmer's market.
here i am feasting on some ribs...
while my mom and gina were getting some soup at one of the stands, i waited next to a nearby booth where an artist sketches your caricature for a fee. after a few minutes just hanging out, one of the artists started sketching attie even though i didn't ask him to! when he was done, he was about to give me the picture for free but i felt like i should pay him even though i don't think the drawing looks much like attie. what do you think?
the next day, on our way up to the hearst castle, we had lunch at the Apple Farm which was YUUMMY! i think attie had a great time playing with the coffee creamers while she waited for us to eat.
finally, we make it to the hearst castle. we went on tour 4 which took us through the gardens and pools. the property was huge and super gorgeous... but it was tiring to carry attie the entire time. our tour was about 1 hour of walking... and there are a ton of steps so i couldn't push her around in her stroller. lucky for me, gina and my mom helped carry her for parts of the tour. here we are at the famous indoor swimming pool:
on our second night, we got attie a crib of her own. although she didn't actually sleep in it, i let her play in it. i think she looks like a little monkey trying to get out of her cage.
of course, our trip would not be complete without some shopping! on our way back home, we stopped at the camarillo outlet for some good deals... although i didn't really buy much for myself. i feel like all i ever shop for is stuff for attie!

i am carrying my luggage bag, attie's luggage bag, attie's diaper bag, attie's food, toys and blankies (in the big brown bag), and my mom's luggage since she is carrying attie. it's NUTS traveling with a baby!

Hey, I think I did that same tour at Hearst! Where is the caricature?
anselm missed out on all the fun. he should be the one hauling all that luggage. i love the breakfast at solvang! thank you joy for planning the trip and thank you attie for keeping us entertained. the video of her going to the bathroom is tooooo funny!
